Product Description

What we say Vitamin C was the most googled beauty ingredient of 2017 and with good reason! This treatment from the Ordinary may sound a bit scary, but it effectively evens out and brightens skin tone to reveal a glowing complexion. Apply a small amount in the evening after cleansing; we like to mix ours with moisturiser to save a bit of time.
The Ordinary Vitamin C Suspension 23% + HA Spheres 2% - a water-free, silicone-free stable suspension.

Vitamin C is an effective antioxidant and its pure form of L-Ascorbic Acid has been shown to reverse multiple signs of skin ageing while brightening the skin when applied topically. This water-free, silicone-free formula provides 23% pure L-Ascorbic Acid which remains completely stable due to the absence of water. The system is supported with addition of dehydrated spheres of Hyaluronic Acid to offer visible surface smoothing alongside the benefits of Vitamin C.

Nut-free, vegan.

Directions

Apply a small amount to face in the AM or the PM. A tingling sensation can be expected after application. If the sensation is too strong to tolerate, the formula can be mixed on each application with other creams or serums of your preference. This treatment is ideally applied at bedtime.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Gritty It's like putting cream on at the beach. Or like a facial scrub that you don't wash off. Very strange and gritty, it doesn't soak in throughout the day either.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from What’s best for some, may not for others Vitamin C Suspension 23% + HA Spheres 2% contains a high concentration of Vitamin C. It’s okay when I have been combining it with The Ordinary Glycolic acid on face and underarms every night, despite the gritty feeling of the Vit C. But one day, I used a depilatory cream for sensitive skin (that I have no issue before) to remove hair on my underarms, and it inflamed my underarm so bad, which caused redness, scratch-like marks, and burning pain, especially on my underarm creases. Too overexfoliation of combined products I guess in addition to my fragile armpit, especially since the concentration is 23% which is very high concentration of Vit C. I researched that starting with a low concentration of Vit C 5-10% should be introduced first. I did not use the Vit C suspension + Glycolic acid for 2 days on my underarms and have been applying ice packs & small amount of vaseline aloe vera lotion which helped relieved my inflamed underarms. So what you can take away with this review is you really have to be careful with using high concentrations of Vit C especially if you generally have sensitive skin or applying it in sensitive/fragile/damaged parts of your skin as Vit C 23% suspension with 2% HA spheres or any high concentrations of Vit C with HA can be potentially harsh and irritating especially when used improperly or due to lack of knowledge about its potential side effects. Always do thorough research when buying, applying and combining products (Your skin type, the ingredients of the products, the concentration amounts, how often to apply the products, and what cannot be combined with these products)

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Pilling I was prepared for the gritty texture and tingling sensation (which was very mild for me) but plan to switch to a different vitamin C product next time due to pilling of directly after applying this product. I use it with/directly before my moisturizer and it almost feels like my previous steps are being lifted with the pilling. Maybe I should be using it first thing?

Rated 2 out of 5 by from So greasy This product is so greasy, I made the mistake of putting it on before bed the first time I used it, and it destroyed my silk pillowcase. I can’t imagine how the vitamin c absorbs into the skin given your face is one giant oil slick on the surface. You could honestly fry an egg on your forehead. Maybe this is an ok product if your skin is dryer than the desert, otherwise give it a miss. In the bin!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Couldn’t keep using it Have been using other ordinary products for years, been happy with them. But not this one. I was prepared for the texture and tingling of the vitamin C, but the thing I couldn’t stand was the smell, just awful :( will be throwing this one away

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent! Love this so much. The combination with hyaluronic acid 2% + B5 is top notch. The glow is different!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brightens my skin, helps with fine lines I bought this months ago and love the new texture. It goes on smooth. Sometimes there's light stinging but that goes away after a few minutes if I feel it at all. I like that it brightens my skin and smooths the texture. My fine lines aren't noticeable when I apply this. Do a patch test first and see if it works for you. I mix it in with a cerave face lotion after toner, which works perfectly for me. My skin is perfectly hydrated. Don't forget sunscreen on top when you go outside if you apply in the AM.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Did you change the formulation? The first time I bought this product in 2023, it felt like sandpaper and tingled slightly when applied. And it worked. Just bought a new tube, and there is no sandpaper texture, and it doesn't tingle at all. Just feels like a generic drug store lotion now. Did you change the formulation?

Hi!  Can I use this cream and niacinamide serum in the evenings one after the other? Or should I use one in the eve and one in the morn? They both suggest nighttime use!

Asked by: Sarah
Hi there, Thanks for reaching out to us. The brand advises not to use these two products one after the other, but you can use one in the AM and one in the PM. I would recommend using the The Ordinary Vitamin C Suspension 23% + HA Spheres 2% in the AM and the The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% in the PM before your moisturiser/night oil. I hope this helps! Thanks, Chloe - Beauty Expert

Is the Ordinary bit C serum suitable for coloured skin. Like Asian-Indian skin?

Asked by: Nazia
Hi there, Thanks for reaching out to us. This product can be used on skin of any colour, ethnicity or race - it's not so much for lightening the skin colour, it's more for brightening the skin and providing radiance to dull skin. It also helps with lightening pigmentation marks, freckles and sun/age spots. I hope this helps! Thanks, Chloe - Beauty Expert
